    Palma – McDonald’s Update

I’d feel very amiss if I didn’t mention some items on the McDonald’s menu in Spain that aren’t on the UK menu. I’ll also admit that the expected readership for this post is two, which is Dylan and Leon, my favourite McDonald’s connoisseurs. And I know Leon is up for trying new menu items, although the cucumber sticks were definitely an adventure too far.

The chicken burger is probably available in the UK, but potato wedges aren’t usually available in the UK, although they sometimes are. I still prefer fries, but variety is the spice of life.  And the things in the middle at the back are chicken bites, which don’t appear very often in the UK either. But, they’re most lovely. They go really well alongside Chicken McNuggets, to spice things up a bit.

And a layered coffee. Probably not for the tastes of young Dylan and Leon (not until Dylan is ten), but what is apparently condensed milk at the bottom and then some coffee arrangement above that I don’t understand. It’s particularly lovely. It looks pretty though. I nearly threw the glass in the bin thinking it was plastic, but I think it is actually glass…. It came with a proper teaspoon as well, very exotic for McDonald’s.

Probably not suitable for children until they’re at least eleven, McDonald’s also do beer in Spain. Won’t be long now until Dylan and Leon can start to begin their lessons, from me, in the delights of craft beer. I’m sure starting them on thirds is fine at the age of eleven.

Anyway, that’s my McDonald’s post aimed at two particular children finished   🙂    And hello from Palma, Mallorca and Spain!

  • Ireland – The Dylan and Leon Report

And this page is the update for the two future travellers Dylan and Leon. There was a mat in the shop saying that Dylan was “athletic, strong and handsome”. There wasn’t one for Leon, so we had a think and thought of what it would say, and it was “brave, chatty and courageous”.

Steve playing football on the walk.

    There were some big waves.

The very bravest person on the whole walk. Everyone agreed on that.

    Sheep!

It’s that man from the canoeing!!!

So, this week we’re walking on the west coast of Ireland, which has big cliffs where the land meets the sea. There’s a blue dot to show where we are. The sea is the Atlantic Ocean, which also borders the United States! (where Donald Trump lives)

This was us at the beginning of the week, and it has rained a lot, so we got wet. I was very brave. Did I mention that?

We’ve done lots of walking on hills, but we’ve also been on the beach where I caught by some waves which came in really quickly.

    Look at all the cheese!

In the evening we’ve had to eat in local pubs or had to make our own food as there aren’t any McDonald’s as it’s too remote…..

This is the new group mascot, a hedgehog called Hiki (I think that’s how they’re spelling it). Luckily they didn’t get a snake.

The border collie that we found, it was a bit like Scott’s! He was very friendly, but he chased cars.

There’s a few more days of walking and I’ll no doubt continue to be very brave! More news to follow  🙂

  • Vilnius – The Dylan Report

Another in my series of posts for Dylan…..

This week I’m in Vilnius, which is the one with the red dot. Spot who is in Norfolk at the moment  🙂

Look at what they have available to drink!

A double decker train! Like the one we went on in Luxembourg.

Underground tunnels at the bastion (which is where people would go when they needed to be safe).

    The railway museum.

A clock that used to be at the railway station, there’s a newer one there now.

Someone has stuck a calculator to the wall   🙂

  • Riga – McDonald’s (one for Dylan)

This post is just for Dylan, and any other 7-year old who is dreaming of travel……

Riga is in eastern Europe, a two-hour flight from London Luton airport. There are a lot of trams in Riga, as well as buses and trains. But the trams are the most exciting and they go for miles. One of them goes to the zoo, photo below of the tram   🙂

    And inside the tram below.

And the zoo was excellent, the owl was sweet. Lots more photos here.

In Riga there are lots of independent restaurants and small chains, so McDonald’s isn’t as popular. But the ones they have still have a lot of people in them, and there’s lots of seats. And Chicken McNuggets   🙂

Below is a Big Mac BLT, something new. And a cherry pie, they don’t usually have those in the UK. Leon would like the burger  🙂

For those who food like McDonald’s, they can go to Hesburger which is similar. They have meals like Happy Meals, where you get a toy and they also do chicken nuggets   🙂   A photo below is the Hesburger I went to today.

    And there’s lots of parks!
